Some administrative duties include (but not limited to) using various Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), answering telephones, welcoming patients, coding, and filling out insurance forms.

Clinical duties include taking medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, taking electrocardiograms, blood draws, and injections.

After completion of the medical assistant and pharmacy technician courses students will be able to register with the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) to register for their national board exam. Becoming certified in your area of study will allow assistants to apply for jobs within and outside of Mississippi.
